It was evening, Seema was waiting for her friends call when the door bell rang. She stood up to open and saw that a light was beaming from across her room. It was from another house just next to her neighbour.

She went to check who was in the flat, that has been closed since 2 years. Meanwhile the doorbell ranged again. She ran to open it and found a stranger asking for help. His door got locked and he misplaced the key. She was scared but pulled courage to ask whom are you looking for. He said he has shifted yesterday night. And he is her new neighbor.

Her eyes beamed with suspicion, questions and interest to know who this guy in 40s is. He asked her can he come in. She did hesitated. Asked him to please come and have coffee. While she was preparing coffee he looked around her home and praised. She was having many questions but before she could ask, she called someone. “He is on his way” she said. “Who” . “The key maker”.

Both smiled and he said he just got transferred to this hill station and his wife died last year, his son is living with his grandmother so all he has to share is sadness. She said “I am not interested if you married or not, have kids or not.”

A silence drove in and they waited for the key maker. She asked him what he do. “I am storyteller, enchanter”. She laughed and said I do not like stories in her slurry voice. He stared at her like he will eat her. She stared back as if she knows everything.

Then the doorbell rang, she opened and said your guest came. It was the police, they both caught the famous murder. She was awarded medal for bravery and he was awarded jail for murder. She never missed reading news paper, that today saved her life. He was the mystery murder with a tooth missing and a tatoo on his right hand.

Years passed and she grew old. She was living alone in that flat when again doorbell rang and it was the same person. She was smiling and he was too. The door shut and no one came out. The story ends…reading news paper is good. She was seen some days latter with the same man in the grocery store.
