Meghalaya is a very attractive place in North East India.  Cities like Shillong and Sohra (Cherrapunjee) are easily accessible, as they are only a few hours drive from Guwahati.

They are well connected by rail and airlines.  It is natural that people from all over India and the world come here to see the magnificent waterfalls and caves, which are located in the Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills (two main tribal areas of Meghalaya. The part which is still unknown and untouched is the Garo).  The hills, where the Garo tribe lives. The beauty of this place is unmatched, but still, no one knows about it.

Actually, for the last many years, this area is out of reach of most people. This area has been affected by the separatists. In the past  Things have improved in 3-4 years. This has opened the way to a magical paradise. The place I reached (Wari Chora) is like a magical mystical land, which will take you to a different world than any untouched.

The place is not easy to reach. Wari Chora is also no exception. From Shillong, I can ride my bike 300 Kilometers away to a place called Tura, which is the district capital of the Garo Hills.

Then 110 km went to Baghmara, which is the last major town before reaching Wari Chora.

adventure bike rides me Village, which is the only homestay right next to the waterfall.  My room was made of bamboo.  It was next to a deep forest and a stunning waterfall.  The homestay owner's family gave me a warm welcome and the family member who accompanied me misbehaved In the name of a luxury stay, people pay thousands of rupees for such a place, but they only took 200 rupees from me for a night.  The next morning we took a boat and covered a distance of 6 km through a deep forest.

Saving ourselves from leeches, wild animals, and a very rough core jungle track, we finally reach Wari Chora (Chora River).  We got into the boat and went into the depths of the valleys.  Going there felt like I was in a movie and on an adventure to a magical land.

According to the legend of the people of the Garo tribe, Bari Chora is protected by 7 serpents and one who disrespects the river gets cursed.  After the mesmerizing experience, I went back to my homestay but remained silent the whole time as I had an unusual experience in my mind that I could not get out of my mind.

At that time I was neither worried about the leeches nor the rain which was completely soaking me up.  I hope next time you too will visit this untouched part of Meghalaya.  Till the next story... Happiness always!
