The festive season has arrived. Navratri is starting from 26th September. The preparations for this have also started. Navratri is celebrated with pomp across the country, but there is a lot of difference in the methods and traditions of celebrating it in different places.

1 Bomai Golu, Tamil Nadu:-
From the beginning of Navratri, traditional dolls start appearing here. These dolls are placed in the odd number of 7,9 or 11. These dolls are worshiped during Navratri. Along with this, people also light diyas in their homes and also do bhajans and Satsang.
2 Nadhabba to Mysore (Karnataka):-
In Mysore (Karnataka), Navratri is celebrated under a different tradition. Here on the day of Mahanavami, the royal sword is placed on a throne for worship and is taken in a procession of elephants and horses. On the 10th day (Dashami) there is a grand procession of dancers and musicians carrying the image of Chamunda Mata (a form of Mother Durga) on an elephant gold saddle. In Mysore (Karnataka) the festival of Navratri is celebrated as Nadahabba (state festival) which is celebrated till Dussehra. It was first organized by Raja Wodeyar in 1610 AD.
3 Durga Puja Festival in Bengal:-
In other northeastern states including West Bengal, Navratri is celebrated as Durga Puja Festival. Here this festival starts on the sixth day i.e. Bodhan (invocation of the mother) and continues till the tenth day. The special thing is that here Durga Maa is worshiped as a daughter. It is believed that she comes to her maternal home from her in-laws' house.
4 Sadbuddhi festival in Kerala:-
In Kerala, Navratri is celebrated in the last three days. Here people keep books at their feet and pray to them for knowledge and wisdom. People consider it auspicious here.

5 Shringar festival of Maharashtra:-
Similar to Gujarat, Garba is organized in Maharashtra during Navratri. However, during this time there is a unique tradition in which married women invite each other to come to their house and adorn them with kumkum, bindi, vermilion, and other things.
