Each one of us have heard a common quote “ Beauty lies in eyes of beholder”. So true, isn't it?
How many of us truly accept this? Ask yourself. Complexion defines beauty for us, isn't it??
When a girl hits puberty, her mother become conscious of her complexion. Loads of suggestions from neighbourhood aunties, relatives come forward to look fairer.
“Mix sandalwood powder with turmeric you will get a better tone”
"Put some lemon drops with aloe Vera it will work"
“Visit parlour once a month at least, now you have grown up” and what not.
Story doesn't end here. They started comparing with other girls of same age which is equally disgusting and embarrassing.
"If a girl has dark complexion society has problem, if she is fair enough then also they whisper about her. If she takes care of her beauty then also she gets criticised, if she doesn't then also she gets useless suggestions."
I mean what is the ideal form of looking good? Because no one is accepting the girls the way they are. Or they are the topic of gossiping for aunties? Or they are some sort of materials to be categorized under skin tone brackets? Or just they are soft targets ?
Meanwhile what kind of struggle runs through a girl's mind and soul.. anyone hardly knows. No one likes to be judged by anyone.
We have actually discriminated ourselves in four brackets of complexions ( Dark, wheatish, brownish, fair ). And the worst sufferers of this discrimination are girls.
More or less ,We all have faith in GOD but do we follow him? If yes, then why don't we accept all creatures as they are? Who are we to discriminate when we can't create one?
A plead from the innermost core of my heart for each and every girl facing all these shits :-
"She is beautiful ,but not like those girls in the magazines.
She is beautiful for the way she thinks.
She is beautiful for the sparkle in her eyes when she talk about something she loves.
She is beautiful, for her ability to make other people smile even if she is sad.
No, she isn't beautiful for something as temporary as her looks. She is beautiful deep down to her soul."
Ours is a land of goddess where we all worship Durgaa, Kali, Lakshmi, Saraswati. Do we discriminate them on the basis of their skin tone?
