Productivity & Ways To Improve

If you have heard the saying “Productivity is being able to do things that you were never able to do before”, you probably understand what productivity actually means. For those who are not aware of the term productivity, let's dig deeper and get a broad understanding of what it is, how to be more productive.

There are simple and proven ways to guide yourself to be productive. The summary of approximately 95% of videos on Youtube is that being in a productive or unproductive state is all because of your mindset and approach towards life and things. This summary is based on people's personal experiences and also the studies conducted over the years. The human species is sitting on top of the food chain because of being more productive and increasing productivity over the years.

Let's take the first step towards being better than we were before reading this article :

Planning

Before you start doing anything (be it studying, working, cooking ) make a plan as to how that task can be completed. When you put your brain to work, it will tell you various ways and approaches, starting from the easiest and ending with the hardest. Now, trust me when I say, it took me more time to formulate the above sentence than your brain will take to weigh the pros and cons.

What happens when you plan and do something is very simple. Your brain prepares your body and itself in advance about things that can/might or will happen. This in turn releases extra energy to start doing.

Thought Process

Most of the time you will find yourself in a situation in which you want to do something, but you can not push yourself enough to even start it. This happens because the “Human brain will often do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure”.What you need to convince your brain is that you will only do ONE small, simplest of tasks and not think about the whole project or whole picture. Let's take an example: “ Suppose you want to write a blog and you have topic and research-ready but still you won't start it because that is a task you have created in your own brain. What you need to do is convince your brain that you will just write one paragraph only .”

What happens when you give an easier task to your brain is that it gives you the logic that you should complete it and get back to rest, this is all you need. Now, what happens to most people is that when they finish a smaller task, they easily glide towards much harder tasks and that will do.

Discipline

All the above points said and done and still can not get the productivity chart high, it clearly means that there is a lack of discipline. As the saying goes “ Discipline trumps motivation.” So if you are not disciplined, the tasks become harder and harder. Discipline in raw understanding is making your mind aware that you will do what you are planning to do, no matter what.

This can be more easily understood by an example “ Let's say that you want to do exercise, so you have everything ready and at your disposal, the equipment and the wearables. The first couple of days you are all pumped up and go to the gym or exercise a home, but after the excitement settles down, you start searching for motivation. Motivation is a very fleeting emotion and its available in limited quantity, what you require here is Discipline and an attitude ” Krna hai to krna hai (you have to do what you got to do)", and that is the end of the story.

"Brain is a beautiful servant but a terrible master."

Control it , deceit it , play with it and you can accomplish anything and everything.
