According to many people share market is a gambling. When I was started to work I had an curiosity to learn more about the share market. That time I don't know anything about how it works. When I was working in bank some customers will come and give me the applications to apply for an initial public offer. After that only I came to know about initial public offer which is also known as IPO. That time I don't know IPO is like an lottery. So wanted to try IPO initially and I open the Demat account through online platform. nowadays there are more number of online Demat account holders available.
I am provided my KYC and my account open on the very next day very soon I applied for an IPO and i don't remember that company name but I was not allotted for the IPO. Again applied for HDFC AMC IPO. Luckily I was allotted and that is my first experience in IPO which will be remember very long. Yes HDFC AMC IPO gives me profit. I have applied for 15000 rupees and on the listing day it was around 28000 approx and it gives me a profit around 90 percentage. All the IPO will not give you profit some will make you occur loss. Only the good companies with high demand and Good Grey market premium will give you profit.
For High demand IPO you cannot sure about your allotment. because if only 1000 shares are issued in market and 2000 people are applied 1 share each. Then 1000 people will be left without allottment. This is only for example.
There are certain norms to apply for a IPO. A retail customer can apply upto maximum of 2 lakh rupee. And IPO are used in lot size maximum of Rs 15,000. suppose if a share is 100 then 15 shares comes together to apply for a lot. you can apply in lots like 15 shares, 30 shares, 45 shares upto maximum amount for 2 lakh rupees. Before listing the shares will be traded in Grey Market, it is an illegal market. completely works only on belief but this market will help us to know about demand of the share. If share price is 100, and before listing it has premium of 50 and trading on 150 means you can go for it. The probability to give profit on listing date is more. Suppose the share is at discount of Rs 50 and trading at Rs 50 you can avoid it.
