Fighting covid 19 simply means building you immunity and this calls for change in our diet.Check if the following anti viral foods are present in your diet.

1.Garlic

  • It is a powerful anti viral.
  • It can be eaten raw or cooked.
  • It acts as a special ingredient in soup for your sick days.
  • Consuming it with raw honey every two to three days helps your immunity.

2.Star anise (Chakra phool)

  • It contains shikimic acid which is used as a base material for production of Tamiflu which is used for influenza virus.
  • Use this in your teas like green tea and black tea to help your immune system.

3.Ginger

  • It can also be eaten both raw and cooked.
  • It is a great ingredient for putting in tea. 
  • It can also be used in dishes along with garlic.
  • Mashed ginger with honey and star anise is best immunity booster.

4.Coconut Oil

  • It has lauric acid and caprylic acid which help in boosting immunity.
  • You can have it both raw and cooked.

5.Resveratrol

  • Peanuts,strawberries,blueberries, cranberries,white wine and even dark chocolate are rich in resveratrol.
  • They help in fighting fungal infection,uv radiation,stress and injury.
  • They act as great immunity builder

6.Vitamin C rich food

  • Vitamin C rich food such as amla,red pepper,yellow pepper,orange,lemon and vitamic C supplements are must have in this covid times.

7.Anti viral herbs

  • Anti viral herbs such as oregano,tulsi,dried thyme are great for immunity.
  • They can be used in teas or curries for respiratory health including mucous problems.
  • Inhale essential oils like thyme,eucalyptus or star anise.

8.Other essentials

  • Maintain vitamin D3 levels because low vitamin D3 means low immunity.
  • For increasing vitamin D3 levels one can include sea food in their diet and bask in sun.
  • You need a good biotic and probiotic to keep your gut healthy.Healthy gut means healthy immunity.
  • For this you can have betroot kanji.(recipe at the end of blog).
  • Minerals like zinc and selenium should be included.They can be found in almonds,pumpkin seeds,unsalted cashew nuts,unsalted pistachios and sunflower seeds.
  • All these dietry changes should be accompanied with exercise.

  1. Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon crushed brown mustard seeds.
  • 3-4 large carrots.
  • 1 large betroot.
  • Water enought to cover the vegetables.
  • Salt accordingly.

    2.Preparation

  • Cut the vegetables in long pieces pieces,not to small.
  • Combine all ingredients in a glass jar and cover it with a cheesecloth.
  • Let the jar sit in sunny spot for atleast a week.
  • Once the kanji develops a tangy flavour that means the drink is fermented and all set to be served.
  • Save the pickle pieces to enjoy later.
