Hey readers, hope y'all are keeping safe and having a good day.
I don't think I need to start with an introduction as to what corona virus is or how serious of an issue it is. The outbreak started in the starting of 2020 in India. The World Health Organisation declared the corona virus a pandemic on 11 March, 2020. The world has faced so much ever since. Nationwide lockdown itself was such a new thing at that time. Initially, people were not very stern and wanted to get back go their offices and children enjoyed staying at home. But when conditions started worsening, cases increasing everyday, there was a sense of fright. India saw the peak of first wave in September 2020. And then once there was a fall in the number of people infected with covid, people could be seen getting careless. The second wave, like we all know, was very very ugly and threatening. The rise in number of cases, lakhs of people suffering again, their families suffering, no source of income for a large part of the society and so much more. I get goosebumps when I think about the scenario some time ago, people losing their lives because of shortage of beds, ventilators, oxygen. Crematoriums having no place for dead bodies because of the alarming number of deaths. Family members crying, begging to get their loved ones admitted, hoping that they'll survive, doing anything and everything they're asked to do.. it was painful.
The pandemic taught us lessons for a lifetime. Family matters alot, far more than you thought it did. Spending time with your dear ones in lockdown, getting to know each other better. With family, you're warm and safe and everything feels peaceful. Praying everyday that the people you love are safe, they wake up fit and healthy the next day, became a ritual for many people.
We had probably forgotten what clear skies looked like but now we know. Cities used to choke on fumes and smoke from vehicles and industries until people started working from home and getting fined for leaving their houses.
Wildlife has also expanded in this time. Various migratory birds returned to Delhi, number of lions and tigers increased, dolphins could be seen at Mumbai's Marine drive.
Many of us tried cooking and trying recipes for the first time in lockdown. Many people would've cleaning, mopping since keeping maids seemed unsafe at that time. So yes, quarantine taught us household chores as well.
Lastly, you all would agree we realized that health is wealth. We tried homemade remedies for boosting immunity, kept ourselves as hygienic as possible, no physical contact with people. If you're not keeping healthy, you'll have a tough time.
I really hope all of you and your loved ones are doing well. We're all together in this and we will fight.
