As we are going to read about Ayurveda it becomes necessary for us to understand its basic . It has three basic pillars respectively i e vata pitta and kapha respectively. These are called tridosha.
Now this term tridosha is quite tricky. On one hand we say that they are necessary for proper functioning of our body on the other hand we are calling them the trouble makers. The reason they are called so lies in the fact that when ever we get out of our natural balance and our sync with nature these three are the first ones to get affected. As they get out of order they start disrupting body functions too. This balance when disrupted for long ultimately leads to disease. Hence they are the main reason for trouble in our system hence they are called tridosha.
Since we became aware of their nature let's just take a glimpse at the functions they perform. Being the basic pillars these three functions collectively like a system running our body efficiently.
Each of them performs specific funtion we are about to read. To begin with we have our first dosha vata.
Vata is composed of air and sky. Hence it is very light and cool in nature and has properties of both sky and air. It is known regulate all the movements occuring in our body also it regulates the other two Dosha hence becoming prime among the trio. It carries out such as movement, secretion, sensation, respiration, excretion, speech. We can also assume it to be the life force of the living being, once gone the person is no longer living. Hence it must be protected.
Next we have pitta or the fire we presume it to be. It is composed of fire and water. It is related to the digestion and metabolism occuring inside our body. Fire consumes every thing thrown into it so does pitta hence it needs to be properly ignited . Apart from digestion pitta also processes vision enabling us to see, pigmentation to our skin hence providing us a skin tone and moisture through oil secretion. Our optimum body temperature is also its funtions. Although it is controlled by vata but its proper functioning is the key to our living.
Last but not the least we have kapha . Composed of water and earth this is correlated with the various fluids secreted around organs and joints to protect them from frictional damage. It is also considered to be mucous secretion of openings such as nose ,mouth. Apart from protection it provides sense of taste because it is composed of water element. Without kapha you would not likely be able to differentiate between the tastes.
These doshas collectively govern the funtions of our body . They also play a major role in regulating the nature of individual.
This was all about our doshas ..
