Whether it be a decor shoot or any brand or interior photography, somewhere we find Monsteras at their background wall. Especially the monstera deliciosa is used as a decorative piece to enhance the quality of the shoot. Within 3-4 years what made them so popular and trendy. These plants are also role models for interior decor purposes.

Do you know why they are so popular,

but the rest of the other plants are not so as compare to it? let's discuss.

The heart shape leaves with their dark shiny thick color on leaves makes them look very aesthetic when light reflects. Especially the holes and the cut patterns/ fenestrations which are naturally produced. There are more such features of monstera, which make them a unique identity, which we shall be going to discuss further in this blog.

Monstera Symbolise.

Monstera symbolizes the long life & honoring of elders and respected people. The holes or the fenestrations of the leaf have their advantages. The unusual, uncertain, heavy rains and winds slap the leaves thoroughly. WAIT, PAUSE here for a while and think if the leaves of monstera were a large heart shape with the broader surface area then it might get slashed down very badly. So we can say, although it's not appropriate, that holes/fenestrations in leaves save them through this disaster. Nature has created them such and also makes them so trendy too.

In your mind after reading, it can also strikes that, why the rest of the plants with larger surface area leaves don't get damaged. The reason behind this can be the nature or the layer divisions of the tropical rain forest created naturally.  The layer divisions are basically, the plants are arranged according to their needs & requirements, starting from lower ground plants, shrubs, trees, and so on. These can be one of the reasons behind the holes.

On my Instagram feed, I asked a question "What do you think why monsteras are so popular?"

Here are the answers I received which mainly depict its unique appearance and leaves patterns.

  • Someone told, they are so because its large & unique pattern
  • One of viewer said " I like the plant but it's overrated. Few people make plants popular, rare to find & expensive."
  • " Because of there leaves".
  • '' For its exotic looks''
  • " Because of its natural fenestrations "
  • While there were some who was in fashion or interior, they said " the looks make them trendy and we use them in almost of our shoots or model magazines "

And many more. From there I get to know they like them because of their looks and cuts can be one of the major reasons behind its popularity.

Hope you enjoyed reading it and also our experience with its popularity. Feel free to drop your view or any reason you think that makes monstera to be very trendy

Monstera to be a very popular houseplant.

* The Sharpe, classy look of the leaves with prominent fenestrations naturally. I think Monstera has already been the main element to all interior designers for their photoshoots or a model magazine.

* A very easy to take care houseplants especially for a beginner. If you give them a little attention and care then these plants will show their best results more care tips read more...

* Monstera plants are also one of the air cleaning plants recommended by NASA, which makes them another plus point to be popular.

* Low maintenance plant.

* The pattern of leaves looks exotic and unique cuts naturally. Although there is a large variety of pothos which also produces cuts at some stage of their growth, but then also they don't look so cool.

Sharing some of my experience about handling the monstera deliciosa.

  • When I was scrolling my page I found this plant to be very trendy, I thought to have one, but unfortunately, none was available locally. But when it came to me, was happy and excited to have one. I used to care for them as usual to all my plants.
  • Soon I increased my collection, and meanwhile, start to propagate it as it also produces node. For 2- 3 times, I failed and end up rotting them all. But one cutting start rooting and had grown long root in water, but unfortunately I was traveling and it was neglected, so it died. Maybe in the future will try to propagate them more.
  • When they are small they don't have any fenestrations in leaves, but as it starts maturing it starts developing cuts or holes in it. There is one such Monstera of mine which has grown tall enough and it has cuts in it, but the new leaves which are developing don't have such. Soon I figure out the reason, recently I repotted it by removing the soil fully which was my mistake.
  • It use to brightened up the space or the corner where I keep them, infact wherever I keep them it automatically enhance the decor.

Our next blog will be " Is stealing money plants/pothos is  good."
