Physical beauty is superficial and nothing proves this better than the inspiring story of Mary Ann Bevan, the English woman who came to be known as the “ugliest woman in the world”.

Bevan started exhibiting the symptoms of acromegaly soon after she was married, around the age of 32.

She began to suffer from abnormal growth and facial distortion, along with severe headaches and fading eyesight. she no longer had  income to support herself and her four children

In an attempt to support her four children, Mary Ann Bevan, an English mother of four, adopted the moniker "the ugliest woman in the world" after developing acromegaly in the 1900s. 

Not always was the World's Homeliest Woman the picture of unattractiveness. 

Facial characteristics change due to the altered bone structure, and hands and feet may swell. 

After the death of her husband in 1914, she no longer had the income to support herself and her four children. Bevan decided to capitalize on her appearance and entered an "Ugliest Woman" contest which she won.

Bevan’s more beautiful days began in East London, where she was born as Mary Ann Webster in 1874. She became a nurse and by 1903 had married a farmer from Kent, Thomas Bevan.

The disfiguring ailment, a disorder in which the pituitary gland overproduces growth hormones, can cause adults to suddenly begin growing again.

She had no money left over after her husband passed away in 1914 to maintain her four kids. 

Born as Mary Ann Webster in East London in 1874, Bevan's more glorious days started there. 

Adults with the deformity, which is caused by the pituitary gland overproducing growth hormones, may start growing again out of nowhere.

One of the less common pituitary disorders is amerogaly, which is currently treatable if caught early enough. 

She defeated 250 ugly contestants.She entered the local competitions ,"The Ugliest Woman".
