Are you a vegetarian? Or you want to taste meat without breaking your vegetarian rule. Then don't worry plant-based meat is making purely based on plant product or you say it veg. meat with similar taste, similar appearance, a similar fragrance with approximately the same nutritional value. Actually, it has a good nutritional value compared to animal meat because its nutritional value can be fortified according to human needs.

So in today topic, we talk about plant-based meat

Plant-Based meat is growing more popular by the day and it is good for a healthier diet alternate to meat. It is beneficial for both environment and animals.

What is Plant-Based meat?

Plant-based meat refers to products made from plant materials that are designed to mimic meat in every way, from taste, smell, appearance, texture even their nutritional value are also approximate same.

The primary ingredient in plant-based meat is generally soybeans(other legumes), wheat gluten, lentil, tofu, yuba, & a variety of nuts.

Types of Plant-Based meat

  • Whole muscle meat- These products are designed to resemble a steak, chicken breast, or any other type of animal muscle. Many companies are striving towards an entirely Plant-based steak. Novameat, a Spanish start-up is developing a version made of pea and rice protein. A 3D-printed structure will give the product an authentic muscle feels that is a defining characteristic of real steak.
  • Restructured meat-These products are those that mimic products like ground beef, meatballs, sausages, and nuggets. Beyond meat, Impossible burger is fallen under restructured meat category.

 Nutrition value of plant-based meat and animal meat

The most common ingredient in plant-based meat is vegetable protein, coconut oil, beet juice extract, vital wheat gluten, beans, rice, soy.

 Plant-Based meat generaly contain protein 20g, Iron(DV) 25%, Saturated fat 5g, cholesterol 0mg, Total fat 22g, calories 290 while

Animal meat generally contain protein 19g, Iron(DV) 12%, Saturated fat 9g, Cholesterol 80mg, Total fat 23g, calories 287

                                Is plant-based meat is healthy?

Yes, plant-based meat is generally healthy when eaten in moderation good a part of a balanced diet compares to animal meat. Because plant-based meat has lower saturated fat, cholesterol free, and a high amount of fibre makes it healthy as compare to animal meat.

Eating food with high saturated fat and cholesterol increase the risk of chronic disease.

Plant based meat is a healthier choice compared to animal meat. Although these alternative meat may seems like an appealing source of protein to incorporate into your everyday diet, but they are still highly processed and high in sodium. They are good for environment and contains some nutrients. so, the key is eat them in moderation with your continuous whole food diet.

I am vegetarian, so yeah! I love suran sabji and jackfruit sabji, which my non-vegetarian friends say as meat substitute.😀 I go for plant based.
