Last week I went to Pushkar with some of my relatives. I don't like Pushkar though, The place wasn't so attractive or interesting to me as I hate it :D but still, I got some heartbeat moments. I thought that I should have to share it. I met with a boy, 12 years old, who was selling fodder with his father on the side of the road.
My sister's mother-in-law believes in worshiping, so she wanted to buy some fodder to feed the cows. The seller told her about the prices, and she started bargaining as usual. The boy said to her in a very humble tone "Aunt, we are standing here in the sunny sunshine from morning till night to earn some money not to please any customer but to fill our hungry stomachs". The words of a little boy left an impression on all our minds. My sister's mother-in-law got impressed and bought the whole fodder from them. That boy said, "Now we do not have to stand in the sun, we can go to our home, thank you". She also gave him some extra rupees and told him to drink some juice. He became happy. A little ordinary smile came to his face. But that wasn't just ordinary. That smile on his face gave us extraordinary thinking.
We all were mesmerized by his behavior and even my sister's mother-in-law asked him to come with us. He denied it and said, "I go to school here". I can't come. Then I asked, in which standard you are? He said I just passed class 7th with 96%. I topped my class. Now I am in class 8th. I am the only support of my parents. So whenever I get a chance, I help my parents with their work. He talked to us solemnly. In a very mannered way, for a minute I also thought we were not talking to the poor little boy. His gracious nature emphasized to me to think "Humans may be poor by money, but not by heart, not by nature. If one doesn't have a gracious heart, then the rich man is also poor in front of this little boy".
This one incident left me with some deep-down thoughts that why we are so ruthless over one thing, i.e., money. We humans donβt want that, itβs essential so that we can have a livelihood. What we need is βTo be kind towards othersβ. Always be nice to others, believe in the little joys of life.
