India sent their first official contingent to an Olympics at the 1920 Antwerp games. A century of Olympic history is filled with a number of highs such as the record 8 gold medals in hockey six of which were consecutive.
India participated as an independent nation in 1948 at London Olympics. India did saw lows in Olympics as India did not have a memorable time at the olympics in the 1980s as they could not win a single medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and the 1988 Seoul Olympics and 1992 Barcelona Olympics as well.
But Tokyo Olympics 2020 was the best Olympic for India as we witnessed the best performance of our Indian contingent. Firstly we will have a look at the medal winners of India at the Tokyo Olympics 2020:
Mirabai Chanu opened India's medal account at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 with a silver medal in the women's 49 kg. Her first medal at the Olympic games.

Let's appreciate the efforts of all the participants, coaches and staff members of Indian Olympic contingent.
We saw the positive effect of the efforts that was initiated by our government, the investments made by our government in sports sector for building infrastructure, providing facilities to athletes, players and their coaches.
Increasing the budget for sports making, things easier for the sports federations yielded good results and thus India gave its best ever performance.
What are the things that we must look out for so that we stand high on medal tally by next Olympics.
(1.) We need to take a good care of our existing talents and look out for some new and young talents.
(2.) We need to increase the number of games for our players. This will increase the practice for them. Making them participate in more and more competitive games that will help them improve their game.
(3.) Taking our players to foreign nations for workshops and trainings. Learning new techniques and meeting expert coaches will help them sharpen their edges.
