Delivery has been a subject of discussion for centuries. Why do people take dowry? This is not a subject that has has come in focus in the modern times but it has been the prime subject for several years.

For decades pepole have been asking dowry during marriage. The people of the boy's side demand as much as they want. They don't care what is the financial condition of the girls family. 

One factor that decides the amount of dowry is the employment of the to be groom. Higher the salary and perks of the boy, higher will be the demand of the dowry. No matter what ever policies and rules the government makes, people will not stop taking dowries and the girl's family who is forced to fulfill the demands.

It's in the mentality of the people that they have to demand for dowry. This is now a part of people's character that they are becoming greedy.

This is not the problem of only the old times. It's also a problem for the modern era even the well educated people demand and give dowry. Students in their school and college days are taught that dowry system is a threat to the society, this must be stopped but still the same students demand for these at the time of their marriage.

Why? Why do people demand for dowry.  Aren't  they sufficient enough to fulfill their needs on their own. Why do they need to ask for money on their marriages?

This is one of the biggest problems in the modern times. Everything is fine if the dowry is given but if the girls family is unable to pay the demanded dowry even after the marriage the girls life is made hell. She being harassed and assaulted by her in-laws. A survey says that around 27 married girls are killed or forced to suicide due to demands of dowry.

What is the solution for this? Is making rules and policies on this sufficient ? Are we seeing any benefit of it ? The answer is no. We will have to change the mindset of people. We will have to introduce more and more encouraging programs and urging people to deny the system of dowry. We will have to teach our students and talk to them on this topic repeatedly so that they decide from the very early age that they won't accept dowry.

Girls must be encouraged so that they don't give dowry and deny the proposal of marriage.

In fact students must be asked to submit an undertaking mentioning that they won't take or give dowry . They should be given their degrees after they submit these undertakings.
