The Kingkiller Chronicle is a trilogy and one of the most anticipated fantasy series that's out there. Patrick Rothfuss has done an amazing job of writing this masterpiece. The plot is extremely engaging, not to mention the worldbulding and magic systems used in the book. Patrick Rothfuss can also be regarded as a “spiritual” writer once you're familiar with his works.
I think what people find most intriguing about this book is how the main character has been perceived as an antihero, when in all fairness, he's no less than a knight in shining armor. Teasing words like Kingkiller, also add to the curiosity of the readers. The 2 books that are already published are very engaging to say the least. The books give us a glimpse of how legends are made, and how their tales are true and not true simultaneously.
But the best part of the Kingkiller Chronicle, according to me, is the hint of mystery, that surrounds the 2 books that have been published and therefore, the anticipation it has created for its 3rd book.
The books carry a deeper understanding of the world and the tale that is told by the main character, which cannot be comprehended by reading this jewel of a book series just once. Patrick Rothfuss is a very very clever author and has focused on all the tiny details in the book, thus, leaving a lot of easter eggs.
The book's plot has a romantic tinge to it and I reckon, it makes the book better than it would have been without the romantic arc between Kvothe and Denna.
The Wise Man's Fear came out in 2011. This means that a decade has passed and we still haven't read Doors of Stone. However, it has been rumored that the third and final installment of the Kingkiller Chronicle may come out this year.(Fingers Crossed)
Another interesting fact about this series is that, although Doors of Stone may be the end of The Kingkiller Chronicle, according to Patrick Rothfuss, this trilogy was just a “Prologue” for Kvothe's story.
"I am an author who has tricked you into reading a trilogy that is a million-word prologue.”
These words were spoken by Patrick Rothfuss in an interview, which means that we will definitely be seeing more of Kvothe even after The Kingkiller Chronicle. The Kingkiller Chronicle has just been 3 days in the world of Temerant and we have yet to see what more adventures our Kingkiller goes on.
