Some Facts About 'Power Nap'

Are you feeling too exhausted? Feeling drowsy?? Your eyelids cant stay open ? There is a single solution to these problems and that is a ‘Power Nap’. 

The positive side of power nap-

a) A power nap can bring freshness to the mind and body within a matter of a short time. 

b) A power nap increases the level of alertness and proactiveness in a person

c) A power nap increases the concentration level of a person

d) It also enhances the memory of a person

e) The tenacity to do a work also increases through power nap.

f) the intellect of a person substantially increases with a power nap.

The time limit for power nap- The time limit is very specific for a power nap. It varies from 2 minutes to 30 minutes. But more than that, any nap cant be termed as a power nap.

A 2 minutes to 5 minutes nap is said to be ‘Nano nap’.

A 5 minutes 20 minutes nap is said to be ‘Mini nap’.

A 50 minutes to 90 minutes nap is said to be ‘ Lazy man’s sleep'.

Sleep inertia- The first 30 minutes of the sleep cycle the brain is considered to be more active . After that the slow wave sleep cycle starts and the depth of the sleep increases. So if you sleep more than 30 minutes, you will not be able to concentrate on work because the head becomes heavy. And this is termed as ‘Sleep Inertia’.

The ideal environment for power nap- The environment for perfect power nap is a place where there is least noise and the ideal temperature is said to be around 128 degrees Celsius. There should be least light or preferably a darker environment. And most essentially , the mobile phone should be switched off.

The provision for power nap- Now the provision of power nap in an office environment is restricted in our country but its followed in many other countries. But we do get short breaks in our office hours which are idle for taking power naps as per the time limit. So we can make use of that.  Then the offices are mostly centrally air conditioned so taking a power nap can be easily followed if we are actually feeling the need for it.

Above all a power nap is the best way to combat the regular that we undergo in our office work. Even if we are working from home we can go for a power nap occasionally. Because at home we have household work, office to manage, children's online classes and many other responsibilities to attain. So we are more busy at home. So the best solution is to take a power nap for a while.
