There is a beautiful and unique place in India which lies 3000 feet down the sea level. The name of this place is Patalkot. 

This place is located about 80 kilometers away from Chindwada in the state of Madhya Pradesh. This place lies in the Satpura ranges. There are about 12 villages located in this region which lies 3 to 4kilometers away from each other. Patalkot covers about 20 thousand acres of area.

If you look at the place nobody can understand that there could be any village located in such a deep lowland. Trees and natural environment surround the village and there are some places in Patalkot where even rays of sun do not penetrate for days…This place is very dark and marshy.

But inspite of that about three thousand people reside here. They do not only live there . They have built up an independent living for themselves in this region. 

There are two tribes residing in this area. They are called the Bhuria tribe and the Manda tribe. People say that the Bhuria tribe is residing there for more than 500 years. The people residing here are not inclined to communicate with the people outside this region. These tribal people gathers their livelihood all by themselves.  They grow crops for themselves and gathers fruits and honey from the forests. They do not depend on any market for their feeding and livelihood.

For shelter they make mud houses for themselves. Even when they fall sick they apply the herbs and natural products for their cure. 

There are many medicinal plants available in Patalkot. A certain group of people prepare medicine from them. These people are called Bhunga. These people makes medicine from generation to generation. 

These tribal people have their own cultural and traditional beliefs. They dress in their own style during the cultural occasions.  They were there own traditional jewelries and perform their cultural programs amongst themselves.

There is a deep hole located at a placce in Patalkot. The people over their beliefs that this deep hole will lead us to the famous ‘ Patalpuri’. They also belief that it was from this Patalkot that  Devi Sita had entered the Patalpuri. 

The people residing here do not keep any contact with the outside world. They do not even know that the world is effected by the Corona virus. 

The government is trying to create a link with Patalkot. This is mainly to attract tourist because tourists are very excited to have a short tour to this independent land.  But the natives are happy with their living style and are not so much excited to meet the outside world.
