Dear gentle readers, Welcome to my blog. I hope you have read the first part of this story. If not read yet, please take two minutes to read it first.

Amit was about to meet the girl whom he met on social media. The Bengali new year was still a week away. Amit has a lot of questions on his mind. Although he has been chatting with the girl for roughly two months, the girl has revealed very limited information about her.

The week built up to a lot of expectations. Amit booked two seats at a well-known restaurant on Esplanade, in the heart of the city. The venue and menu were discussed during the call. They were supposed to meet at 7 in the evening.

Amit was dressed in a stylish kurta and jeans. The young man reached his destination on time. He made sure to bring a bouquet of roses.

The attendant at the restaurant greeted him with a warm smile. He took his seat. It was just 7 p.m. He kept the bouquet on the table and rang the number of the girl. The phone couldn't be connected.

Guests started pouring in to the restaurant on that occasion of the Bengali New Year. Amit tried again to connect the number, but he found it unreachable. The clock was telling Amit it was 7.30 p.m.

The waiter came up to him for an order. To avoid embarrassment, Amit ordered soft drinks for now. He drank the colourful water slowly to pass the time. The young man tried to reach the girl through chat and video call, but the day was not meant for him.

The time was a quarter past eight. He was embarrassed and heartbroken. Our man slowly left the restaurant. As he came out of the restaurant, a little girl came up to him. The girl was dressed in rags. He got an egg roll for her and handed the flowers to the clutch of her little hands.

Post-dinner, Amit was watching one of his favourite school days's movies, Gadar. Suddenly, his phone beeped. A message arrived on his phone. He opened the message, an audio recording from that girl. Amit clicked on the audio; it was a song by Rabindranath Tagore. The translation of the song goes: Oh, my eternal companion, do not leave me. The voice was enchanting, and Amit listened to the song in loop. Tears flow from his eyes.

The days were as usual for Amit, but the nights were changed. Life was never the same again. The universe played a bad joke with him. He could not find the profile of the girl anytime soon or later, as if all her trace evaporated in the air. Amit checked the phone number, only to find that it never existed.

The story should have ended there, but the fallout continues for Amit. He started seeing the girl in his dream. She was as tantalising as ever.

Thanks for reading.
