Situated in the Pink city of India, Jaipur Amber Fort is the main attraction of the city. This fort has a connection with the Mughal empire in India, Raja Man Singh I was among the 9 gems in Akhbar's court, and under his reign, this stupendous fort was built. Amber fort is located at a distance of 11 kilometers from the Jaipur city center and situated on the foothills of the majestic Aravali range. In order to witness the history and glory of this splendid fort, we started our trip to this fort at 10.00. We hired a battery auto-rickshaw to drop us near the entry point of this. While on our way to the fort, we witnessed numerous other architectures on the road. And the road that takes us to the majestic Amber Fort is filled with scenic beauty. It is advisable to take a battery auto rickshaw to the fort, as you would enjoy the beautiful roads, the view of the Aravali range, fresh air, and the scenic beauty. Moreover, one should also book their tickets online through the Rajasthan tourism website as it would save your time, you would not have to spend a long time waiting at the ticket counter, and the ticket price is Rupees 100 for Indians and 500 for Foreigners.
While climbing the stairs that lead to the Suraj pole gate we saw numerous local artists playing the ancient bowed instrument Ravanahatha to earn some livelihood. There is two option available for the tourists to reach the top of the fort, one is by climbing the stairs and the other one is elephant ride. However, after 12.00 pm the elephant ride is unavailable, and instead one can take a vintage-style designed battery car to climb down from the fort or climb up.
As soon as we entered the fort through Suraj Pole, there we saw the Jaleb Chowk courtyard, and then we went to the Diwan-e-Aam after completing the security check. The king's private quarters in the fort are divided by the mosaic courtyard named Ganesh Pol. Here we witnessed the most exquisite place in the fort i.e the Hall of Mirrors and Diwan-e-Khaas. On the upper portion of the Diwan-e-Aam, there was Jas Mandir which consists of delicate floral-shaped glass for decorations. And just at the opposite portion of the Diwan-e-Aam is the Sukh Mandir where the king used to relax with his ladies. In the fourth courtyard of the fort, there is Man Singh Palace which comprises numerous rooms built for his wives, and it is the oldest portion of the palace. In front of the Man Singh Palace, there is situated a courtyard where the queens used to meet the king and in this courtyard, the scene of a sword fight between Aishwarya Rai and Hritik Roshan was shot in Jodha Akhbar movie.
Another fascinating part of this grandiose Amber fort is that there is a labyrinth passage that leads to the Jaigarh fort from the Amber fort. The length of this passage is 1.5 kilometers, and it would give you can feel that you have gone back to the time when the Royals used to rule this palace. The passage is dark and it is lit using yellow-colored bulbs which resemble a fire torch.
