I am going to describe about memory in a huge way.
I think change is the word for the universe. Because nothing remains stable excluding memory but memory only remains stable for some short as well as long interval of time and further it becomes change and follows the rules of the universe
Memory is something which can be reside in any form in the short/long interval of time. In other words we can say that the acquired changes made in any material which can remain unchanged in the short/long interval of time.
It contains three types of mechanism which are:
Without encoding storage of information is not possible. Here encoding means takes the changes in that form which can be acquired by some material (i.e., material used in the storage media) to take some change for the short/long interval of time. Actual meaning of memory can be understood by focusing on this phrase “changes which can remain stable for short/long interval of time” . Storing means changing by their nature of acquiring propagates in the material in different form. Retrieving means to convert the changes in actual form from the storage material which is understandable form.
Memory is everything. Everywhere memory resides. A glass of water also contains some memory. A very good example of memory is your notebook when you write something on your notebook it forms a memory. A book which you read, the information stored in any book is in the form of memory. Let us consider an interesting example - Suppose you are a child and study on any school. All the students including you purchase same books according to your course. On first day your teacher asks to write your names and roll number on your book front to prevent book from misplace . If any case it misplace you can regain your book by the help of name and roll number mentioned on your book front. What is this? This incorporates the definition of memory which contains small amount of your memory i.e., your name and your roll number.
By the help of aforementioned information I am going to present a brief definition of computer memory.
Computer memory is an internal storage area, which stores data and information - It is of two types primary memory and secondary memory.
Primary memory is a memory which stores information for short interval of time and it holds data and instruction when programs are executing but secondary memory is a memory which stores information which is not currently in use and can be used further.
