The Importance Of Balanced Nutrition
Hi, I am Arunima. I would like to talk about the importance of balanced nutrition and how important it is to eat a balanced diet to stay healthy.
Food is a basic necessity of life. It helps us to stay healthy and be active. Unhealthy food habits like not knowing what you eat, overeating, eating more junk food,not drinking enough water and drinking sugary and carbonated drinks daily and irregular food timings and late night dinner will increase the risk of developing various health problems like diabetic mellitus, hypertension, heart diseases and obesity etc .
Our body needs all the nutrients in adequate amounts and in a correct proportions to work and to make healthy body cells , it's called balanced nutrition .
A well balanced Diets which includes the basic five food groups.
1) Carbohydrates:
- The carbohydrates are the main source of energy for the body.
- Carbohydrates composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.
- The major source of energy from our diet.
- The examples like Rice, wheat,the Millets like ragi and jowar, whole grains,corn, oats,beans etc.
2) Proteins
- The protein helps in growth and development.
- It is the major source of energy.
- During starvation, proteins serveas the major suppliers of energy.
- The foods like Dhal,non-veg, fishes,eggs,soy and seafood and diary products are rich in proteins.
3)Milk and Milk products
- These are essential for building of bones as it's high in calcium and also milk products are high in vitamin a,d and protein as well.
4) Fruits and vegetables
- Fruits and vegetables are provides vitamins, minerals and fiber.
- It's called protective foods as it's helps to fights infections and improves our immune system.
5) Fats and oils
- Even some fats are important to our body, Because it also plays a vital role in various functions and we should used it in minimum amount.
✓ So we must learn to include all the five food groups in our daily meal and eating anything excess or less is not a good practice.
✓Eat the right amount of calories based on the height and weight.
*There are few simple steps which can be followed to maintain your ideal weight and also stay healthy ,they are:
- Learn to eat when you are physically hungry and Stop when you full.
- Replace Unhealthy snacks with healthier ones like fruits, vegetables salad and nuts and seeds.
- Drink plenty of water ,limit intake of sugary and carbonated drinks.
- Make a habit of eating healthy balanced diet which includes all five food groups as discussed earlier and plan your meals.
5.Stay physically active to stay healthy.
“Respect your body. it's the only one you get". One should always prioritise his or her health. The world health implies the state of being free from illness and gives the Idea of being healthy has a lot of advantages,and three are ways of being healthy and fit in simple terms being healthy and fit means taking good care of the body.
