❌Stop Diabetes❌ Before It Starts✌️

 Hello all!!!  My self ANNA BREEZE (Dietician). I used to see many people suffering from diabetes and I'm here to help you all to clear your doubts. And I'm giving a sample menu plan for diabetic. So, here we go…

Diabetes:  A Metabolic disease that causes hight blood sugar levels.

Types of Diabetes:

Type 1 Diabetes :  Body can't able to produce insulin and immune system attacks and destroys the cells in the pancreas which makes insulin. Commonly seen in children and young adults although can appear in any age groups. People with these kind of Diabetes is totally dependent on insulin and they can't live without taking insulin.

Type 2 Diabetes : Body is producing insulin but not making effective use of it. And occurs at any age groups even during childhood. It's the most common type of Diabetes.

Gestational Diabetes :  Develops in some women when she's pregnant. Occurs during pregnancy and disappears after the baby is born. But women's tends to have more chances of developing it as type 2 diabetes in later life. 

Prediabetes : The term defines when blood sugar is higher than expected and it's not enough to name it as diabetes. This will be termed as prediabetes.

Diabetes Insipidus : Rare condition causes your kidneys to produce large amount of urine.

General Causes:

  • Overweight
  • Physically inactive 
  • Family history
  • Insulin resistance
  • Hormonal changes
  • Pancreatitis
  • Unhealthy eating habits                                                

Diagnosis :

Blood tests used to diagnose fasting blood glucose and post prandial blood glucose also HbA1c provides average glucose levels for past three months. These are the commonly used diagnosis method.

General Symptoms :

  • Increased hunger and thirst 
  • Sudden weight loss 
  • Frequent urination
  • Blurry vision 
  • Fatigue 
  • Delayed wound healing
  • Dry skin 
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Mood swings

Risk factors :

  • Genes and family history
  • Injury of pancreas
  • Obesity 
  • High Blood pressure
  • Low HDL levels
  • Being age above 45yrs
  • Smoking
  • Heart disease
  • PCOS

Complications :

  • Neuropathy 
  • Nephropathy
  • Retinopathy
  • Heart disease
  • Dementia
  • Depression
  • Dental issues 

Treatment :

For some people Insulin is the ultimate and main treatment and some needs drug contains combination of alpha-glucosidase inhibitors, SGLT2 inhibitors,sulphonylureas etc…,

Prevention :

  1. Eat more fruits and vegetables
  2. Cut down saturated and transfat containing foods 
  3. Limit and  maintain quantities 
  4. Get minimum 30 mins of physical activity
  5. Maintain regular meal pattern with proper meal timings
  6. Take medication without skip 
  7. Monitor blood glucose levels regularly.

Sample menu for healthy life:

7:00 am.     tea/coffee/milk (without                                                  or half sugar)

8 :00- 9:00am.   Breakfast - Idly/Dosa/Roti/kichadi/poha/Upma with dal/sabji/chutney/sambar 

11:00am.      Mid-morning snack (fruits like apple/guavas/papaya/pomegranate/pear) or Vegetable salad/ buttermilk 

1:00- 2:00pm.  Lunch (rice+veg curry+ boiled egg+green leafy veggies)

5:00pm. Evening snack (tea/coffee/milk) with sprouts/nuts/steamed groundnut/biscuits

7:00- 8:00 pm. Dinner (as same as breakfast) 

9:00- 10:00 pm. Bedtime Milk. 

Inbetween you should do some physical activity like walking, jogging or cycling.and Don't forget to take medication and lead a healthy life!!!
