I am a 22 year old girl. A girl full of dreams for her future life, a girl with enthusiasm and is zealous to do astounding stuffs with her future self. Everything is okay, she knows she can achieve anything and everything she desire to have, she wants to thrive and do better where she lacks, she indeed is a beautiful soul.
But my question here is; Is having a beautiful soul enough? Is having a passion for life is enough? Is having a golden heart with love enough? If she do not fit into the “Perfect girl” mould? Then what?
I am asking you this because I am not sure. I tried to accept my body as it is, nut seems like people do care more about me getting comfortable in my won skin. They are more concerned than me for my body. They do not ask “are you feeling fine” or maybe just “How's your health” instead they are worried about how am I not looking after my own body. They somehow made themselves believe that it is their right to pass a judgement on my body without being reluctant, without asking me if I need their futile opinion anyway. They say “Oh, you are fat u should eat less and maybe do a little workout” Or “Oh, you are way too thin, ain't you eating enough” Or “You are dark use some whitening cream” or “you are way too tall, you are so short who will marry you” (like we care). I appreciate the fact that some people are actually concerned and care. But others are there just to pull you down. They never fail to make us question our personality, they force us to measure our beauty with a set scale, they tell us we are not pretty enough every time.
Okay, what if we fit in that beauty standard thing and still feel wretched, miserable or just not happy? Then, then what? Will they offer their callous views on that too? Or will they be there in our bad times or when we legit need them? I don't think so, will they?
What I have learned after all these years of trying to be pretty or to just try to make them cease their comments, is that these people are never gonna get pleased. What matters here is how you treat yourself, how happy you feel within your own skin and body and how accepting you are towards you own self. Of course, we cannot deny the fact that some people have body pertaining problems, some has major health issues but judging and making them feel abject on how they look or how they are is the worst thing one can do as a human.
So, let's start by loving our self first, accepting who we are and how we look. Necessary changes indeed are imperative but that should be one's next step. Right?
It is your body which is with you in your health and in your sickness. Somebody said it correct that Body is your temple. So, worship it and take good care of it, not just to look good to others but to have a peace and balance within you mentally, physically and emotionally. And of course, You do not have to be perfect all the time but to be blissful is what matters. You are worth everything. Just keep moving forward.
