Petrichor- The Earth's Smoky Pleasant Smell After First Rain.

The sensation that seemed to be engulfing us at that precise time was ethereal. Although it appeared to be solidly in front of us, nothing other than passing people was actually there. It seemed like there had been a wanting or a yearning for something for an excessively long time until it finally stopped in the middle of a typical day and everything was found. I had no idea that I would ever experience this emotion. You know the fragrance that follows a rainstorm, right? the smoky scent you've grown to appreciate over time? There is a word for it that I've discovered; I'm not sure where it originated from, but it's called petrichor.

I have a term for that, but I've never been able to put into words the emotion that was coursing through my body, soul, and mind. Although I can constantly recall it and feel it, I can never express the dreadful sensation to others. Isn't it funny? I suppose you're wondering what I'm referring about now that I think about it. I'll explain, but you'll need to use all of your senses to listen and feel. You will undoubtedly miss something if you don't. You'll be here for a while, so keep alert but don't become tense. And I kindly ask that you refrain from laughing at my ridiculous story because neither you nor I are in the wrong. Compare myself to no one else; this is my narrative.

There was nothing save the aroma of monsoon rains just before they poured onto the verandah. I, the lone crawler, would run inside to the protection of my mother's lap when a sudden deluge mesmerised and bewildered me. Such memories are hazy and only sporadically engraved in my mind. But I'll never forget the Petrichor fragrance that comes with the rain. I believe that every human being has a deep-seated need for the ravishingly gorgeous Petrichor. It is transmitted to a person through an endless line of forefathers. Or perhaps it is just a gift from above. That is where the rains originate, after all!

It could be interesting to observe how eagerly people anticipate the advent of the monsoon, but this might not be specific to India. All year long, they look forward to the rains, which they ultimately embrace with open arms. Much like a toddler anticipates a visit from an uncle in the city who always delivers a tonne of candy. Additionally, their delay was deserved. The start of the rainy season signals a healthy harvest later in the year for India, a nation whose economy is based primarily on agriculture. Thus, petrichor is more than just a pleasant odour. It is an assurance of plenty, a welcome chance at survival, and the wish that the happy childhood years would return.
