Hello There!!
You might have seen yourself being chased by an elephant in a dense forest and after a while of running, you end up jumping towards a well which is situated particularly in the midsection of your own room and there comes spiderman for your rescue from nowhere!!
Fascinating!! Isn't it? Yes but, until you open your eyes and realize what kind of nonsense was that!!
What Is A Dream Scientifically?
Although finding a definition for dreams is hard, it can be interpreted as our thoughts which are more like hallucinations during sleep which we remember once we wake up. Let us get into a more scientific explanation.
Dreams are a way of processing residual charge in our brain. The charge makes memories or connections by tracking neurons from one point to another. When the brain is confused about the tracking, the signals which are still bouncing in your brain trigger the memories or cortex so that, it will get feedback from your mind. The same will help your brain to keep the stimulus and response in place which in effect constructs or updates the ideas embedded in your subconscious mind.
Why Do We Dream?
There is no scientifically proven theory to explain the causes but, there are certain reasons which are widely accepted for why are we dreaming like,
1.Emotional Balancing
When we are bursting out of emotions in our daily life, the brain tries to balance those emotions in dreams and thus providing free therapy for the individual.
2.Memory aid
The brain stores information about random activities and the important matters to be remembered in two separate regions. And the shifting of memories from temporary to permanent storage usually happens when we sleep.
3.Survival Instincts
There is one part of our brain called the Amygdala which is responsible for triggering the survival instinct. Studies found that this region is more active during sleep. A sensible explanation for our adventurous activities in dreams.
4.Creative thinking
When we sleep, the region responsible for handling emotions is more awakened than the logical part of our brain. The reason why more creative ideas have happened to artists and poets when they slept without the hindrance of ‘whats’ and ‘ifs’ from the logical thoughts.
Why Do Dreams Have No Logic?
When we dream the emotional brain is more active than the logical brain. Hence if there is an incident that happened to you in your daily life, the emotional part of it would be amplified in your dream and the logical part will not.
Suppose if you are having a leg fracture during the day, in your dreams you wouldn't be seeing ideas to take care of or conscious about the fracture rather there could be the image of your leg in inappropriate proportions or dimensions. The same is the reason why we are having dreams similar to the one explained at the very beginning of this article.
The studies and debates on dreams are never-ending and science still has to go a long path ahead to let out the exact secrets and mysteries associated with it.
Hope you enjoyed the write-up.
