Test History of Indian Team:

Under the captaincy of Patiala native Bhupinder Singh, the Indian men's cricket team started on its first trip in 1911. They didn't play the England cricket team during the visit; instead, they just faced English county sides. India became the sixth side to be awarded Test cricket status after that, receiving an invitation to join the International Cricket Council in 1926. They played their first Test match against England at Lord's on June 25, 1932.CK Nayudu, who was regarded as the best Indian batter of all time while he was playing, was the first captain of the Indian Test squad. India had to wait an additional 19 years after making their debut before they won their first Test match, defeating England in Chennai in February 1952. Additionally, the victory enabled the team to draw its first-ever series.

Conversely, the first Test series victory was at home against Pakistan in 1952, while the first series victory away from home occurred against New Zealand in February 1968. India played 570 Test matches up till the World Test Championship 2023 final. They won 172 of those matches, lost 176, and one match ended in a tie while 221 games ended in a draw.

ODI history of Indian Team:

When India played England in a two-match ODI series under Ajit Wadekar's leadership, they played their first ODI on July 13, 1974. On October 1, 1978, they defeated Pakistan in their home ground in their maiden ODI match. They also won their first-ever ODI series on January 27, 1982, defeating England 2-1.In ODI cricket, India's greatest achievement occurred a year later when, under Kapil Dev's leadership, they won their first-ever World Cup. In 1984, they added the first-ever Asia Cup victory to their collection, which included the second major prize. With the victory over the World Championship of Cricket in 1985, spearheaded by Sunil Gavaskar, another chapter in Indian cricket history was written. Before the 20th century was over, three more Asia Cup championships (1988, 1991, 1995) were won.The 21st century brought with it more glory with the Men in Blue winning the ICC Champions Trophy twice (2002 and 2013) and their second ODI World Cup in 2011. On the other hand, two more Asia Cup titles (2010 and 2018) were also added to the Trophy cabinet. In the 52-year-long history of the ODIs, the Men in Blue rank on the second spot in terms of most matches won having 539 wins under their belt from 1029 matches (till July 12, 2023).

T20 history of Indian Team:

They then went on to finish as runners-up in the 2014 edition and, in 2016, they won the inaugural Asia Cup played in T20 format. Notably, with 127 victories from 199 matches (up until July 12, 2023) India is the second-most successful team in T20Is (in terms of matches won) and has the best win/loss ratio among the top 10 teams.Under the direction of Virender Sehwag, India defeated the Proteas by six wickets in their inaugural Twenty20 International match against South Africa on December 1, 2006, in Johannesburg. Under the direction of MS Dhoni, India participated in the first T20 World Cup in 2007 after playing just one Twenty20 International. They were declared the first “World Championship .”
