Education has special importance in human life.  Education is the jewel that makes man civilized and knowledgeable, otherwise without education man has been treated like an animal.  Understanding the importance of education, educational activities are often given priority.  The current education system of India is a systematic system focused on schools, colleges.

The current education system of India does not match the education system of ancient India.  The structure of India's current education system is colonial, while the education system of ancient India was gurukul based.  The present education system is not only a revised and updated education system but it also incorporates new subjects of knowledge-science.  Computer education is a direct example of this, which has made human life easy, beautiful and convenient.

Under this education system, new universities, colleges and schools were established in the country and this process is going on continuously.  Along with increasing the spread of education in this, literacy rate has also increased.  According to the census data of 2011, the total literacy rate of the country at present is 73.0 percent.

A major feature of the current education system is that it has special attention towards female literacy.  Due to increasing female literacy, the position of women in the society has been strengthened today.  Currently, the literacy rate of women is 64.6 percent.

Along with the advantages and characteristics of the current education system, it also has some weaknesses, which are showing bad effects on our society and country.  Today, joint families are breaking up into separate families and single families are divided into nano families.

Now the place of elders in families is decreasing, who used to give moral education to children through stories and stories.  The stories of Dadi, Nani have been replaced by TV, cartoons, internet and cinema.  It is meaningless to expect education of human values.

Vocational education in schools that create children's character and develop social concerns in them has been replaced by vocational education, under which we are creating an autism, a human disconnected from social concerns and values, which leads to disintegration in the society.  A situation is arising.

One of the major drawbacks of the current education system is that it is not job-oriented, that is, it lacks skills and skills.  Schools, colleges and universities have become agencies to distribute degrees.

To make the present education system practical, successful, and ideal, it needs to be changed and improved.  So that it can be able to give meaning to life and raise livelihood.
