Ram, worshipped by many โฆ understood by few. Many call him Lord Ram but what was his journey from being a simple human to Lord. This book by Amish Tripathi going to take you on journey that you never expect. As a avid reader and keenly interested in hindu mythology, I have to read this and this is what I expected from this book. Not only as a point of religion or god, this book tells you the technicality and proper reasons how events unfold one after another. This book tells you about Ram as a person. His venture to become a Lord. The best part is every character is defined so neatly that you will going to connect with them.
Scion of Ikshvaku is the first book of Ramchandra Series which Ram's character is described but along with that the characters of Lakshman, Bharat and Shatrughan defined so well and how they are going to help in his brother's (Ram) journey. The story started with the war of karachhpa where King Dasrath, the mighty king of sapt sindhu lost to Raavan, the army chief of lanka. After the lose of Ayodhya many events turn to be against of the Ayodhya. Dasrath and all other nobilities didn't like Ram as they believe that in auspicious birth of Ram is the reason that they loose against Raavan. So when and how King started to like Ram and how he became the favourite of his people, or The Next Vishnu. Let's keep this as surprise element of all the readers out there.
This book depicts the adolescence of all four brothers. The birth of Ram, King favouritism towards her queen and role of Manthara is well described in this book. The book further explains the role of Guru vasistha and Guru Vishwamitra in the journey of Ram to become the Next vishnu. How Ram loved by all his people and what are those qualities is quite touching. But the best part is that how disciplined Ram finds her Sita, the princess of Mithila and how they both fell in love with each other. The book highlights only few features of Sita as I think it'll be described in the next book of this series. The depiction of Mithila city and the swayamavar is very well. Next the book contains the exile of Ram and how they lived in the forest for the thirteen years. The book ends with the plot of Sita being kidnapped by Raavanโฆ
So I will see you guys in the next book review of this series Sita: The warrior of Mithila. Till then happy reading!!!!
