The Four Most Important Things For Weight Loss
The COVID-19 pandemic around the world has trapped people in their homes. This pandemic has increased rates of anxiety and depression. All around the world, people are not able to step out of their homes due to lock-down or for following covid protocols.
This has led to increase in obesity among people which in turn causes type-2 diabetes, PCOD/PCOS, thyroid, cervical and many other diseases. The increase in these diseases are closely related to lack of exercise, unhealthy eating and bad lifestyle.
The weight of a person is of major concern and can be one of the parameters for a healthy life. At the same time we should remember that just the number of kilos one loses is not the ultimate measure of good health.
The four main things that should be considered by an individual who is on a weight loss journey are as follows:
- Calorie Deficit: It is the mathematics of weight loss. the number of calories you take in should be lesser than the number of calories you burn. The ideal number of calories that you can take per day is 1200. Nutritionists say that if one takes less than 1200, one can experience fatigue and deficiency of nutrition which can cause hair fall, skin pigmentation and weak nails. So eat, but burn out more by doing HIIT and strength training for 5 days in a week for 20 minutes each day.
- Eat Clean: Eating clean means eating food that is freshly cooked, has a lot of protein, complex carbohydrates and healthy fat. Desi ghee is rich in healthy fats as well as in omega-3. Flaxseeds are also a very rich source of omega-3. Girls having PCOD/PCOS are generally lactose intolerant and and can turn to flaxseeds for omega-3 requirements. Anything coming out of a packet should be avoided because mostly these products contains refined white flour(maida), added or processed sugar and preservatives which are all very harmful for our health. Eat fresh fruits and green vegetables straight from your kitchen and enjoy a healthy body and a peaceful soul.
- Drink a 4-5 liters of water a day: Drinking water helps avoid water retention in your body. Water is also a detox liquid which carries away the waste out of our body. Water also hydrates our organs and makes digestion easier. Water also reduces the feeling of hunger and improves metabolism.
- Sleep: Sleep rejuvenates the body and puts in in the repair mode. A good sleep reduces stress and improves involvement in daily activity. Make sure you sleep in a cool and dark room. Different people prefer different total number of hours for sleep. It is completely up to you how many hours you want to give your body rest for. The minimum should be 6 hours.
I hope this will be helpful for you. Make yourself healthy ans stay fit as this is one of the pillars of success.
