Pregnancy is the time during which one or more offspring develops (gestates) inside a woman's uterus (womb).

Although assisted reproductive technologies procedures are also an option, sexual activity is the primary means of conception and conception.

A pregnancy can terminate in a stillbirth, an induced abortion, a miscarriage, or a live birth. Gestational age is the period of time between the start of the last menstrual period (LMP) and the actual date of childbirth, which is around 40 weeks.

It's been a little more than nine months. It is roughly 38 weeks long when counting from the age of fertilization. The definition of pregnancy is "the presence of a human embryo or fetus implanted in the uterus"; implantation usually takes place 8–9 days following conception.

The developing child is referred to as an embryo for the first seven weeks after implantation, or ten weeks' gestational age; the word fetus is used thereafter until birth.

Pregnancy-related signs and symptoms are frequent, benign diseases brought on by the changes the body goes through during this time.

 Although some symptoms may remain constant throughout the pregnancy, signs and symptoms usually vary as the pregnancy goes on.

The symptoms of pregnancy can be divided into groups according to the body part affected and the trimester.

The three trimesters of a pregnancy last roughly three months each. Conception is the time during the first trimester when the sperm fertilizes the egg. 

Following its descent down the fallopian tube, the fertilized egg attaches itself to the inside of the uterus, where it starts to develop into the embryo and placenta. The risk of miscarriage—the embryo or fetus dying naturally—is highest in the first trimester. 

The fetus may start to move about the middle of the second trimester. If given top-notch medical care, over 90% of babies born at 28 weeks of gestation can survive outside of the uterus; but, kids born at this time are likely to have major health challenges such as heart and respiratory issues as well as long-term intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Antenatal care, another name for prenatal care, is a subset of preventive medicine. 

It is given in the form of medical checkups that include advice on leading a healthy lifestyle and medical information about biological changes, physiological changes in mothers during pregnancy, and prenatal nutrition, including prenatal vitamins. 

This helps to prevent potential health issues throughout the pregnancy and supports the health of both the mother and the unborn child.

 Prenatal screening and diagnosis, along with normal care, have contributed to a decrease in the incidence of low birth weight, infections in newborns, miscarriages, maternal deaths, and other avoidable health issues.
