One weekend he got a chance to visit the orphanage. After seeing the condition of the children there, she decided that she would help the children by earning from her art. In his first sale, he raised Rs 30,000 for the orphanage by selling the paintings. Shruti, a student of Capital Public School in JP Nagar, Bangalore, then went to the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology. Met such children there who have cancer. He gave them colored pencils and sketches and inspired them to paint. Shruti was also very happy to see his happiness. Recognizing his skill and intent, the Rotary Club came forward and helped him sell 150 paintings through various exhibitions. Shruti donated Rs 1,30,000 from this to cancer-afflicted children of the Institute of Oncology. What impressed me the most was that this little philanthropist says, 'Giving Rs 1,30,000 is not a big deal. Cancer-affected children of only one institute need more than one crore rupees. I will continue to raise funds by selling my paintings.
This little girl with a big heart came to mind when I read that an IAS officer of UP cadre was appointed as general observer for Amukta and Bapunagar assembly seats in Gujarat and has now been removed from election duty. In fact, the officer had posted a picture on social media along with his official vehicle and some election officials including a police officer. This Friday, in a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat, the Election Commission said that IAS officer Abhishek Singh announced on Instagram that he had been made a general observer and used the official post for a 'publicity state'. The officer also posted the pictures on Twitter with the caption, "Joined as an observer for Gujarat elections in Ahmedabad."
It is being told that he has been asked to report immediately to the nodal officer of his cadre. The Election Commission will soon appoint a new observer for both the seats.Citing the Election Commission's letter, State Election Commission officials said that they are taking the matter seriously and removing the officer from the post of general observer. These 2011 batch officers have been relieved of all election duties.
However, in such a case, they do not understand why God has chosen them for this powerful position. God always has a purpose behind giving this power. If you understand it, the world hails you and if you don't understand it, the world ignores you. Everyone has some powers (read skills) because the creator of us does not send anyone empty handed. Some recognize this skill early on like Shruti, while some acquire this 'power' early in their career, like the officer mentioned above. The funda is that when one understands the purpose of the power (skill) he has received, he becomes a better person than the common man.
