Companies In 27 Countries Of Europe Will Be Able To Ban The Hijab

Europe's top court 'The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) has given an important decision regarding the hijab. The CJEU has said that private companies in 27 EU countries can ban the hijab at the workplace. The court held that if a company has banned any object covering the face or head, then this rule also applies to the hijab. This ban does not hurt religious sentiments in any way. It is the right of the company to implement a dress code for the employees keeping in view the need of the work. After this decision of the CJEU, the basis of decisions in companies related to hijab and other religious symbols in companies in many countries of Europe.

Ban on hijab increasing in European countries

The controversy over the hijab in Europe first began in France in 2004, when the hijab, niqab, and bouquet were banned in schools. After that the French government imposed a ban on the hijab in public places as well. After France became the first country in Europe to do so, Germany took a big step and banned the hijab/scarf for teachers and trainee judges. After that the Netherlands became the third country, which banned the hijab in public transport to schools, hospitals. In March 2021, Switzerland also joined the line of European countries to ban the book. Belgium banned the hijab from July 2021.

This decision has come on the petition of a trainee working in a Belgian company. The woman said that she had gone to the company for 6 weeks of training. The company has given her the right to enter without removing the hijab.

Told. The company has made a rule that no employee can wear items like caps, hats and scarves at the workplace. Trainee wears hijab. The company also considered it a kind of scarf. Trainee sued in a Belgian court. Since the company is registered under EU rules, the matter reached the CJEU. CJEU has now made it clear that the private company has to make a dress code.

China and Sri Lanka made strict rules regarding the hijab, China banned the payment in the Muslim-majority province in 2017. Women wearing books are not allowed to enter public places. Similarly, in Sri Lanka in April 2021, the cabinet approved a ban on the book citing a threat to national security. Security Minister Sarath Verasekera even described the bouquet as a symbol of religious frenzy.
