A Mistake Is Just A Mistake, No Big Or Small

If you are wondering what is wrong with this, I would say all is well, except that the auto drivers carrying the food items to the canteen were wrong in the eyes of the law, as they were carrying commercial food items in their vehicle. There was no permit to go. The vehicle was only allowed to carry passengers and their personal belongings. Remember the word personal belongings here. Personal belongings in the above case meant two huge pots full of hot sambhar.

I know you will say, so what? Who is harmed by this? Since when did the police start catching people carrying sambhar? Is it a crime to do any legal business? Are they selling any of this? Before I answer these questions, let us first know what happened that day. While the food was being transported, another auto rickshaw driver Shekhar (51) โ€“ who had a reputation for reckless driving โ€“ hit Raju's auto rickshaw. The rickshaw did not suffer any major damage, but the entire drum filled with hot sambhar overturned and the two women carrying it were scorched. While Sujatha sustained minor injuries, Ramani Bai suffered severe burns and later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

Earlier this month, Chennai Metropolitan Magistrate P. Chandrasekhar sentenced Raju, an auto driver, to two years in prison. Raju was accused of over-speeding and carrying food items in a passenger vehicle without any permit. Shekhar, the driver of the second auto, was sentenced to six months' rigorous imprisonment for rash driving. The magistrate said the cause of the accident was the negligence of the drivers. Raju was carrying hot food in a passenger vehicle, which is considered to be a commercial item. It is another matter that Raju neither had a driving license nor did his vehicle have insurance or fitness certification. Although this is not a shocking thing in India. But Raju never felt that it was a mistake.

See another example of such minor mistakes. One of the concerns of today's parents of my generation is kids hanging out late night with friends in a restaurant or going to pubs whenever we ask kids for late night outings they say nothing I want to tell this generation that we are not old thinking, we are worried because of those people who do not care about law and put ordinary commuters in trouble. If your luck is bad, then you may have to bear the brunt of their mistake. 83% of the accidents happen between nine in the night and five in the morning.

The bottom line is not to take small things lightly that are considered criminal or punishable under any law. Because they are not going to give you the benefits to secure your future.
