Book Review: The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck

'Reality punched me square in the face'. This phrase has been used frequently but Mark Manson by his book 'The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck' embossed this phrase.

The most attractive parts of the book are without any doubt not only the Title and the Bright Orange Colour but also the fact that nothing in this book is sugarcoated.

Mark has himself played the role of the  Disappointment Panda - a would be Superhero wearing a cheesy eye mask and a shirt (with a giant capital T on it) that would be way too small for his big panda belly, and his superpower would be to tell people harsh truths about themselves that they needed to hear but didn’t want to accept.

Another well articulated concept is the 'feedback loop from hell'

Example: You are upset. What for? No idea. So now you are upset about being upset for no apparent reason. Further, you get upset about being upset for getting upset on no apparent reason.

(Lol, I had fun writing this😂)

Self-awareness is like an onion. There are multiple layers to it, and the more you peel them back, the more likely you’re going to start crying at inappropriate times.

Color me awed when Mark said,

"If everyone were extraordinary, then by definition no one would be extraordinary" and hence "all of this 'Every person can be extraordinary and achieve greatness' stuff is basically just jerking off your ego. It’s a message that tastes good going down, but in reality is nothing more than empty calories that make you emotionally fat and bloated, the proverbial Big Mac for your heart and your brain."

The non attractive parts are the examples (real, maybe not) of young Mark banging ladies left and right. (That made me take away the fifth star. It was cringey)

But then again, if you decide to hang on that, it will only increase your stress level hun, cause he apparently won't give a f*ck (candlemonk won't let me write the real word :| ) about it :P

Mark will teach you to close your eyes and trust that you can fall backward and still be okay. He will teach you to give fewer fcks, important fcks, and f*cks that are actually supposed to be given. He will teach you to not try.

Rating: ★★★★

If you are not a fan of the word 'F*ck' this book is not for you. Also, a set of crowd might find this book offensive because of how blatant it is.
