Interesting Facts About Trichambaram Temple

Hai guys… Here I am introducing about Trichambaram Temple. 

   Lord Sree Krishna is the main diety in Trichambaram Temple. This temple is also known as “North  Guruvayoor Temple ”, that is this temple is considered equal status to the world famous  Guruvayoor Temple.  Trichambaram Temple is located at Taliparamba in Kannur district, South India. Taliparamb is also famous for its spice trade. The temple is known for its Sculptures and murals in the Sanctum  it has been dated before 15th  century. 

   The diety of the temple Lord Sree Krishna is in “Raudra Bhavam” ( ferocious posture) immediately after the Kamsa Vadham . The temple is associated with Maharishi Shambara . The belief regarding the temple that is Lord Krishna, who get tired after his fight with Kamsa , he went  to his mother Devaki to ask for food, the ritual of naivedyam first and then Pooja takes place.

   We all know elephant is an important part of temple rituals at the time of festivals all over Kerala, but in the case of Trichambaram Temple we couldn't find any elephant nearby the temple.  When Sree Krishna and Balarama went to the Kamsa's palace, Lore recounts how the royal elephant of Kamsa charged and intending to defeat him. It is because Krishna had a strong aversion to elephants.

    Annual Trichambaram Temple festival (utsvam) is a colorful event.  The festival is attended by a number of peoples every year. The fortnight- long festival is the main attraction of the festival,  and the devotees run after the Priest who carried the decorated Idol of Lord Krishna and Lord Balarama, while reciting “Govind…Govinda…”. And also thise event which takes place outside the temple at “Pookkothu Nada”. 

   Trichambaram festival ( utsvam) is on kumbham 22(march) every year the festival begins with the Kodiyettam ( hoisting of a flag) and it will comes to an end on meenam 6,with  the ending of this festival,  also known as "koodipiriyal". These rituals take place in the pookkoth nada. There is another ritual named “Naadu valam vekal”, the procession through the village by the priest with carring idol of Lord Krishna and Balarama, accompanied by so many people.  At last on 5th of meenam "Arattu" ceremony takes place, that is dipping of Idol In the temple pond is also performed, finally the Idol of Sree Krishna is taken to Trichambaram Temple and the Idol of Balarama is taken back to Dharmikulangara Temple.  The Trichambaram Temple is also known for its “Thidambu Nrittam”.
