Causes And Treatment Behind Stomatitis(mouth Ulcer)

 Stomatitis is when part of the delicate tissuemucosa, which lines your mouth, loses or breaks away. An injury, usually caused by accidentally biting into an open cheek, is the most common cause. A sign of oral cancer may be ulcerations that do not heal. Canker rash is harmless, usually going away on its own in between 10 and 14 days without needing to be treated.

Causes for stomatitis:

  •  The body does not receive any essential vitamins and minerals, such as B12, zinc, iron or folate. 
  • He responds to the bacteria in his mouth. Hypersensitivity of foods with acid content like lemons, pineapples, strawberries and other acids. 
  • The development of stomatitis may be the result of gluten intolerance. 
  • You may develop ulcers due to sodium lauryl sulfate in toothpastes and mouthwashes.

Symptoms for stomatitis:

  •  One or more painful sores on the area of ​​skin around the mouth.
  • There's a swelling in the skin around the wound. Chewing and brushing your teeth are hard to handle because of hypersensitivity.
  • Inflammation of the wound caused by salt, spicy and acid foods.
  • Decreased appetite.

Prevention of stomatitis:

  •  If your mouth gets irritated by food, avoid it. It's all sour fruits, nuts, chips and anything with a hint of spice.
  •  Choose whole grains and fruits and vegetables that are not acidified. 
  • You must eat a balanced diet and consider taking the multivitamin every day. 
  • To prevent accidental bites, don't talk when you chew your food. 
  • Reduce stress. floss at least once a day and brush teeth after every meal to keep your mouth clean.
  •  Avoid hard-bristled toothbrushes and mouthwashes that contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) or alcohol.
  • Ask your dentist for wax to cover dental or orthodontic oral appliances that have sharp edges.
  • Get enough sleep and rest. It can prevent not only mouth ulcers but also various diseases. 

Types of ulcer 
1. Mild - Small sores inside the mouth - They are usually oval or round - These sores usually heal within 2 weeks - No scars when healing is complete
2. Major - excels at large wounds. They are irregular in shape and much deeper than small ulcers. Healing may take about 6 weeks. Large ulcers can leave permanent scars
3. Herpetic – Pinpoint-sized ulcers between 1 and 2 mm. They usually appear in groups of 10-100 and are irregularly shaped.

Treatment for mouth ulcer:

  •  Drink enough water. 
  • Do not let your mouth get dirty. 
  • Apply an antiseptic solution to the ulcer. Rinse mouth regularly with warm, lightly salted water, rinsing into mouth for up to 4 minutes at a time. 
  • For two times a day use an herbal mouthwash with no alcohol, preferably one containing chlorhexidine gluconate.
