Living in the current times you must have seen that it is common for many people to face anxiety and stress but what can be the reason behind such a serious problem becoming common in people nowadays. The short answer which I can give you is –“attachment.”Yes, attachment to anything, person, etc is the reason why you get stressed frequently. Students are stressed because of their exams, which if cleared will help them to get their desired game or toy. Parents feel stressed thinking about the future of their children. Both of these things are not wrong but stressing about them is. You take stress because you think about something which is not in your hand-the result and what it brings. If you try to understand one simple concept your stress will go in a minute I promise!! Which is just to focus on the action, not on the result. Now, you must be thinking that I am repeating Krishna’s teaching in Bhagavad Gita, even if you are not religious just try to use the logic you are just being told to be more process-oriented rather than goal-oriented, just focus on the steps you take and how efficiently you perform them instead of daydreaming about what all you will get after the goal is achieved. Let’s understand this with an example suppose a student is being promised by his father that he will get a bike once he scores 80 percent in his exams, now instead of focusing on his preparation he starts to focus on his goals and starts daydreaming about the bike, showing it to his friends, receiving praises, etc and this leads him to make errors and feel stressed and he ends up failing which shatters him and his ego. This all happened because he was attached to the goal and had high expectations from it. I think now you must have understood what I am trying to convey so, so I want you to recall all those instances when you too felt bad when your expectations didn’t meet reality try to recall how attached were you to the goal? And did you give your 100% or just focused on the by-products like fame, money, or any other that achieving the goal will bring.I bet you to just detach yourself from your goals once and follow the steps with full determination, even if you will end up failing your mind will be at peace and no stress will be able to touch you.
