Hello friends in my last blog post we discussed about the non conventional sources of energy and their types. In today's blog I will be sharing my views upon conservation of resources and the different types of resources and how do we conserve them. These resources are mostly natural resources because natural resources have a higher chance of getting depleted than man made resources. Conservation of resources is very important for us in order to sustain life on earth. Conserving resources doesn't means to use them less or to completely stop using them. But it means carefully using them and having a balanced approached while we use them. Conservation mainly focuses on 3 R's reduce recycle and reuse.

A. Conservation of land resources

Conservation of land resources means to protect land from land pollution or soil erosion from various methods. The main causes of land pollution are deforestation, using harmful pesticides comma mining etc. Land pollution refers to the degradation in the quality of land due to these pollutants. Now  let us see the various ways in which we can save natural land from getting polluted.

A. By promoting afforestation   afforestation means to plant more and more trees.

B. Reducing the waste and segregating waste products.

C. Controlling the use of chemical pesticides  insecticides and fertilizers.

D. Adopting organic farming methods such as multi -cropping terrace farming etc.

E. By using biodegradable items. Biodegradable items are items which can be naturally decomposed by Earth. They don't disturb the environment or pollute the land instead they help making it more fertile. For example all kinds of vegetable peels or Kitchen waste are biodegradable in nature they don't harm the soil instead they help to increase their fertility and hence they are used as Natural manures. On the other hand we have Non Biodegradable resources or items these are items which cannot be decomposed by Earth immediately and take thousands or even millions of years to get decomposed first of their very harmful for our planet earth and they harm the soil drastically. They make the soil less fertile and cause and pollution. For example plastic.

Soil conservation is also a part of land conservation. Soil conservation means to control soil erosion and to improve the fertility of soil by adopting various other methods. Soil erosion refers to the removal of the top layer of the soil. It can be caused by human actions overgrazing and many other reasons. It can be controlled by using methods like cover cropping  mixed cropping  multiple cropping crop rotation etc. In arid or semi arid areas shelter belt of trees are more useful to prevent soil erosion. Lance that are not suitable for cultivation can be converted into pastures for grazing.
