We all have heard about Psychology, some of us even know what it is and what it is all about. Great! But for those who are unaware, don't worry, I'll not be a lecturer here. I just want to share with you all that how studying psychology has helped me to become a better person. A better person not just for others but for my self too.
I took up psychology as an optional subject in 11th, i consider this as my best decision, though at that time i was unaware of the subject. Initially it was not very interesting, but i had to study so while reading, I tried to understand the text, which I do with other subjects also.
Then came up chapters like human behaviour, thinking, memory etc. From these I got to know, how my mind processes and what all things affect my thinking and my behaviour. Though I was studying my subject but actually I was getting to know myself. From that point many changes took place in me, in my mind. I started to understand myself and others in various situations. I became empathetic (showing an ability to understand and share the feelings of another) and positive.
Becoming an optimistic person is the best I gained from psychology.
Even my batch mates started to notice changes in me and my thinking. I remember the day when one of my friend was worried for submission of an assignment, we had some days left for it. He was very distressed and I told him "When you know that you are able to do a thing and you'll do it, then why do you need to be tensed? Because you will do it, it's in your hands; and when you know this thing is beyond your control, you can't do anything about it, it's very clear, you don't need to worry and be tensed here too, because it is very clear it's not in your hands." My idea behind it was worrying is not an option and is not required at any point in our lives. Being optimistic and hopeful regulates positive energy around us. If we think positive, our mind behaves like a magnet and attracts positivity.
Second thing is empathy. We all say that we have friends of the same personality as ours, but the way I started understanding people, I have every type of friend in my life. They enjoy my company, I felt a change in my thinking and my behaviour according to the type of person who was next to me.
I'm an extrovert and love to talk to people, people find my fun loving, go to personality appealing and we spend great time together.
Today I'm happy and very positive about everything, my mind is healthy and my body is healthy too.
